Ever heard of John Dodd ?
« on: 25 June 2015, 22:32:31 »

Be honest...

I came across his name in around 1976 (from memory) and his exploits have stuck in my head ever since.  Last year I finally met him & his creation at Dunsfold Aerodrome at an event.  Any ideas ?

No, check this out:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTviUXapYGY

Really interesting guy and what a machine...

I remember a story about somebody on the Autobahn doing around 150mph when a car with a RR grill flashed to overtake him then accelerated past him

He wrote to RR asking if he could have one and that's how RR eventually took him to court and he was banned from using it with the grill on

Yep.  He's over in Spain now & runs an Auto gearbox business.  He gets invited to events back in the UK infrequently and creates a stir wherever he goes.

I seem to remember this car being built back in the 80's, in 1 of the custom car magazines. It might have been either Custom Car itself or Street Machine .... ?

I also seem to remember saying to myself, I bet it goes like stink but its oppsing ugly as sin LOL

May '81 Street Machine to be precise.  I also note the car was originally built in 1973 but caught fire & then rebuilt to what we see now.
