As above any idea where from. Probably due to all the rain but not sure where to start looking. If it had been the passenger side i know where to look.

Check underneath the car, where the carpet lugs are in the floor. They actually go through and visible from underneath, make sure none of these are damaged or missing.

Er They don't do anything of the sort...

There are bungs about 1.5" in diameter at various points in the floor. Believe they are used for accurately jigging the body during assembly at the factory, and potentially prior to substantial repair If missing, then obviously a fair size hole...

imho you're looking at one of these possibilities, in no particular order:

1. Blocked sunroof drain.
2. Perished door seal.
3. Heater matrix leak.
4. Windscreen leak.
5. A pillar corrosion.
6. Loose or missing grommet in the firewall between the brake servo and wing.

First step is to pull the carpet to dry it out properly, then have a proper rummage around the front of the footwell for traces

Err, yes they do, look under the car, all carpet lugs match up. I had similar issue with rear drivers footwell, needed to be plugged up as rear footwell was wet. Notice the lug further back

i would try & stuff my fingers up the centre console below the switches, a little towards the front. if the carpets wet then matrix is fubbered.

Tunnie, have you actually removed the carpet from any of 'your' Omegas?

Have done three carpet changes, and not one of them was clipped to the floor
The little rubber grommets you highlight are plugs for the paint drain holes

Paul, if the water tastes of coolant, then heater matrix is number one on the list, otherwise anything else on my list is possible

Cheers chaps i will try all answers. Only thing is my question not well wrote. The carpet is damp not wet. If heater matrix would i not be loosing coolant.

Yup, just like mine does might simply be water from shoes, but removing it to dry it out will give you chance to have a good rummage around for possible sources. Also if dry underneath then not much to worry about, but if the sound proofing is sodden you have a problem that needs sorting

Only way to be sure is to remove the carpet

p.s. the carpet is clipped to the top edge of the tunnel, not the floor (there are two plastic pins under the front of the drivers seat which clip to the rear footwell vents though)
