Doing an oil change won't hurt, depending on how long ago "not so long back" means.  Also cleaning out the breather system can only help matters.

Longish motorway thrash immediately prior to retest highly advised.

It's CO, not CO2  that the MOT measures by the way.

As already said clean the breathers. When was the air filter last changed? Is it an aftermarket air filter? K&N oil bath filters can raise the CO, so can not having a filter fitted. Was it fully hot when they tested it?

Six-month-old oil is probably grotty enough to have an effect, so change that, then the thrash on the way to the test centre, should be enough I'd guess.

You don't need to go super fast, just maintain highish revs for a good while.  Not being familiar with autoboxes, I don't know how easy that is to accomplish though.  :-/

As easy as manually selecting a lower gear.  ;)

I would question the mot station as the limits for CO are 0.3 on a cat test which should have been done as yours was over the bet test limits of 0.2.

If you can post the whole emission reports including all the numbers it would make diagnosis easier. :y

Also, of course, are there any codes stored in the ECU?
