Oil Question
« on: 06 December 2009, 13:02:01 »

Hi Guys

I noticed on the jourey home last night that the Check Oil Level warning  appeared so  checked this morning and topped up to max. My question is why would I be losing oil. I've checked the engine bay and that sees oil free I cant see any oil on the ground under the car?

Any ideas

Hi Griffin, i see from your profile your just down the road from me, i'm in Westbury, Anyway the oil loss could be used up in the engine, i check mine every so offten and top it up but dont see any leaks or get any spots under the car, dont know what the oil consumption is on the Omega but they will use a bit and proberbly more with age and high milage.

If there is no obvious signs of oil leakage, then it could be that the oil level sensor is on the way out.

Also, check the breathers, if blocked then oil consumption can increase due to higher engine crank case pressures

Griffin (Good name) Remember that your engine will use a small amount of oil every thousand miles, if memory serves Vauxhall even state how much is normal, Not sure how much yours is using in how many miles.
