V6 oil leak passenger side- now fixed
« on: 10 December 2008, 09:11:47 »

When the car last ran it had a "smoke film cloud" of oil from under the car. That was when the gearbox packed up and may have been from the gearbox itself.

I have the exhausts off and there is oil on the half inch metal pipe above the oil filter that goes into a union near the filter. Is that a known leaking place? perhaps that is where oil from the rear seal of the passenger side cam cover leaks?

When it was last running the car had drops of oil on those two torx bolts on the very bottom of the bellhousing but I can't feel any oil inside the bellhousing..

Gearbox change today!

Could well be leaking from cam cover. Have you cleaned out all your breather hoses recently? If not, you should!

Sorted the oil leak.

Yes I do clean the breathers regularly but they are now due again.

Hi, what was the leak in the end. Cam covers? Did it take long to do?
