Got my cylinder heads back on the V6 this evening. Markie was helping me..
The surfaces were squeaky clean, and the head bolts all lightly oiled and torqued down perfectly.. I considered it so good we didn't use the 15 deg optional tolerance turn.
Got the exhaust downpipes back on...with new gaskets of course.. one popped on dead easy.. the other not so easy. We had to disconnect the cat/mid-section join on one, which gave us more flexiility at the manifold end, and then it was fine.
Now, it's just a case of putting the cams in, cam sprockets on, cam covers in, getting the cover and belt on and get it timed up.. then it's just anciliaries really. Obviously breather system, throttle body etc will all be nice and clean
Here are some pics.
Here is one head, in the process of having the manifold mating surface cleaned...
Here are the exhaust manifolds, fully fitted with the studs/nuts torqued correctly in our re-threaded holes!
Here is the block, being cleaned up in prep. for the heads to be refitted..
Here are the heads.. back on the car.
If you look carefully.. you will see the new gaskets in place...
Quite a productive evening! I really must spend some time with the lady on Monday, but hopefully Tuesday I'll have a clear run to crack on and break the back of what's left to do..
