Okay, so here is a question for you all.....

The undertray that goes between the radiator and the engine block,is it really required?

I have a 4-pot engine so have a nice big hole there. Before I got the car, it had been removed to look at an oil pump issue by the guys at my VX dealership I worked in at the time but never replaced (typical of them). I have found one from a 2002 car (mine is a 97/98 MFL).

Worth replacing?

Well there are plenty out there without them....

However they do improve the airflow and therefore cooling.

They also catch all the parts and tools that get dropped before they hit the road and roll down a drain.  :D

Yep, I'd have been stuffed without one when my water pump pulley fell off. :-[

Next question, will a FL one fit a MFL? Differences near the bumper, etc.???

Yup. Subframe points are the same :y three panhead self tappers iirc each side :y
