Brake pull
« on: 31 December 2016, 19:09:45 »

A well used term, but when braking over 40 the car pulles to the left and the steer hoop goes to the right

The problem shows itself in the last month. The brakes are fine although its due new boots unless I get the wheel spacers.

I hope its either the idler or the wishbones and the geometry is sort of straight, but I was looking into getting it done aswel

I had this a few years ago. Braking at speed car would pull to one side while the steering wheel would shift slightly to the other side. In my case it was Worn out bushes in the front suspension arms. New bushes and all was fine.

I have found some for £35 each side and an idler arm for 22

problem is the mot is in may and I dont know if it will pass emmissions again with the boloxed manifold.

Do I put it through and see if it passes emmisions and fails the mot then get the the wish bones fittd to pass?

Quite common problem on the X20 engines in the Vectra's that too, didn't realise it effected the Omega's too....

No cure has been found for it yet either, except to replace the studs and go from there...

WHY  would you MOT a car with a known failure fault?

Either fix the suspension regardless of emissions or be prepared to do a set of front tyres every week. Hardly a choice ime...

Because I dont want to pay out for the wishbones if the car wont pass emmisons

But an MOT is half the price of a pair of new wishbones. And the same question applies to the emission problem - broken manifold studs on a four cylinder are hardly a difficult fix.

Non of the local garages are willing to do the job, the cylinder head I bought a couple of months ago went to scrap because the engine shop didnt know arse from tit on how to remove a broken stud so I left them the block and called it even after they cleaned it and started to strip it.

some local tinkers broke imto my shed and stole my socket sets so I cant really do the job myself at the moment

If anyone could help I would appreciate it very much

I'm going ahead with the polys front and GM ones rear of arm. Got this from autovaux for the bushes and the new nuts/bolts, this is for 2.6:

9156605  £13.82
90468501 £4.12
90468500 £4.61
90468502 £1.93

Poly bushes here or on well known auction site:

I would use poly bushes if need be to save money. I had success on the volvo with them

But tbh I dont want to spend any more money on this, SWMBO wants a 7 seater so This will be going soon
