Thanks for the replies.I have looked for leaks in the past but have not found any.I hope that it is due to condensation but will still monitor for leaks.Cam why do you say disconnect battery.

hi.my suggestion was if your leaving car for more than a couple of months its worth disconnecting battery if only to stop it going flat.however if you start it once a month and let it run for a good half hour all should be well .a good battery should be able to be left 2 to 3 months without going flat realy but batteries dont like being left partly discharged and dont always recover to their full capacity.

That used to be the case about 20 years ago, but not now I'm afraid ... with ultrasonic movement alarms, constantly "listening" unlocking mechansims, fancy radios and clocks, LEDs in alarms etc etc the battery drain on a "modern" car is way higher than it ever used to be.

The Omega I could leave for about 4-5 weeks before it started to struggle .. the Audi is about 21 days ...... which is why, under covid-19 it is permanently connected to a smart charger.... just isn't being used at the moment

I won't even try .. no comparison at all to the A6 Allroad .. but I have been impressed with it ever since I purchased it .... fun to drive, good handling, reliable, and when you want it to .. it goes !!!  ( 2 speeding tickets in France attests to that !!) .. and extremely reliable

If you want it, and can justify it to yourself ... go for it

The audi has a stop/start battery .. so is AGM .. I simply set the CTEK to AGM and connect it to the car, via the jump start lugs under the bonnett (battery is in the load compartment), and let it do its thing ... car has only moved twice since early december, but the battery is in excellent condition.

I see on the news Captain Tom is in Hospital with the Chinese Virus , poor bloke 

He was admitted to hospital with pneumomia, which he has had for a few weeks with no improvement, it was on a "routine check" that they found he was covid-19 positive .... so to imply he was admitted with covid is a tad OTT.

He has not had the covid-19 vaccination because of the medication he has been on for the pneumonia.

He is not in intensive care but is being treated for pneumonia with additional oxygen.

I also hope he pulls through .. but pneumonia at 100 is no laughing matter .....

Genuine mental health problems are often horrific for the sufferers and for their loved ones. Believe me, I know.
The problem now is that like many other things, it is being demeaned by the current fad of, if everything in life isnt perfect and ideal, then you must have mental health issues.
If you cant always get what you want, if your a bit bored or fed up, you have mental health issues.
Its fickin disfraceful.

It now seems to be a requirement of everyone to have some sort of "label" they can quote on farcebook ... be it "my kids have abcdefg" to "I have xyz" as it simply enables them to blame someone or something else or "the system" if they can ...  rather than taking responsibility for their own lives.

It is also seen by many as a way of trying to get extra cash from benefits/charities etc etc, and now a free laptop for their poor little offspring....

Just done my annual oil and filter change, plus other servicing.

All done after a mileage of just 1634 since the last change 1 year ago.  Never done so little mileage in my motoring life to date; thanks COVID!

Well, Sainsbury's is not far away in Ashford and I have been isolating

It has saved me a massive amount in fuel, but cost me a new battery

Oh well, I wonder if I can get a refund on my insurance and road excise duty?!!!

The miggy has it's MOT Wednesday, so it bloody well better pass!!

Direct Line have already given me money back ... twice !!  They contacted me last mid-summer and asked for a photo of the mileage... gave me £25 back ...  then in November asked for another .. another £25 back ..... and have already told me that at renewal they will be asking for a nother photo ..... don't know what the result will be ....... but hopeful..

Might be a bit heartless to say but why do they have this obsession with old people , uncle George might be 95 but how long do they expect him to live ? all these coffin dodgers seem to take up a disproportionate amount of resources which ultimately has a limited effect , surely they should be concentrating on the younger age groups and work up to the more elderly ?

An ill, and possibly dying, elderly person takes up NHS resources just as much as an ill, and possibly dying, young person ....  however, the statistics clearly show that the elderly are at far higher risk of being ill, and possibly dying, than the younger person, and take longer to recover, or die. Thus reducing the ill, and possibly dying, elderly numbers reduces the strain on the NHS dramatically.

There is a huge amount of crap being talked about who should be vaccinated .. mostly by self-interested groups - especially trade unions - who simply don't understand that the PRESENT purpose of the vaccination programme is extremely simple ..... to reduce the load on the NHS by reducing the number of people who become seriously ill, and possibly dying .......   

It is NOT to give some local mouthpiece a chance to jump the queue.... if they actually obeyed the simple idea of keeping away from others as much as possible, they would reduce the risk to themselves... but that is actually taking responsibility for your own actions .. apparently an anathema these days....

Just been looking at the rollout in Spain which is running behind the UK.

The first tranche were health workers and care homes ( plus politicians, wives and mistresses that jumped the queue.

Next is the 80’s then the over 70’s in March then key workers.  No date for the over 90’s astonishingly ( 500,000 apparently) and worryingly the 60’s. Maybe the logic is the over 90’s will be shielding......

Correct me if I'm wrong .. but anyone over 90 is, by definition, over 80 ... so is already included in the statement "over 80's" ... unless of course you are into political shit-stirring for the sake of it   (also known as "journalism" it appears)
