Omega General Help / Re: Front brake pads

That's right plus the brake discs have a minimum thickness tolerance and I suspect that 5mm of wear will take them below that limit.

Doesn't sound good :( To be on the safe side I'd go for a new set of discs.

Hi all, anyone used this outfit for spares? Any comments good/bad?  Prices seem keen especially when compared with the stealers. :y

Is it worth buying a trade card? :-/ How much discount do you get with them and are they readily accepted? :-?

From what I have seen of the Insignia I'm not impressed. :P The oversized Vx badge on the front has a low quality look (very plasticky) and there doesn't seem to be much room in the back (leg room/head room), for a car of it's size. Also, I reckon the depreciation will be horrendous. :(

On a positive note, there are still a lot of quailty Omegas about if you look around. You get a lot of car for your money without the depreciation of a newer model. :y

Omega General Help / Power Steering Pump Pulley
« on: 28 April 2010, 17:44:29 »
Hi all, in the Haynes manual it refers to a three stage tightening sequence for the bolts securing the power steering pump pulley (can anyone explain why this is necessary?). I have watched the OOF DVD on how to change a cambelt & water pump (excellent viewing - highly recommended, £3 well spent) but the above procedure wasn't adopted. Also, the Haynes manual says that the water pump and power steering pulley securing bolts should be replaced when the parts are re-fitted. Are they stretch bolts? : :-?

TIA

Omega General Help / Water Pump - Big Money!
« on: 25 April 2010, 18:35:21 »
Hi all, I rang my local Vx garage (Evans Halshaw) earlier this week for a price for a water pump for my 3.0 V6 and they quoted me £119 + VAT!!!! I suggested that they had mis-quoted me but they told me it is now a dis-continued part and that is why it was so expensive.

Where else should I go/enquire for a quality water pump?

TIA

How do you go about getting a trade card? This may be a dumb question but, do you have to be in the trade? :-?

Omega General Help / Re: Traffic Master
« on: 11 April 2010, 17:56:20 »
Thanks bionic, that's interesting. When you say you pulled it out - how did you go about removing it? I have a TM - traffic master button on the dash to the right of the steering wheel - what did you do with that - anything? :-?

I also have a small LCD screen for the CD on board Vx sat nav. I just leave that in standby mode as I haven't got an up to date CD for it. I suspect a more up to date Sat. nav. system would trounce it by todays standards! :-/

Does traffic master still exist?  Is it worth pursuing? :-? Is it linked to the Vx onboard (CD) sat nav system (NavTech on board).

Any advice anyone? :y

Omega General Help / Alarmed & Curious.
« on: 11 April 2010, 18:08:19 »
Hi all, does anyone have experience of the Vx alarm system as fitted to the Omega. I was just wondering if the alarm system can be easily disconnected/removed. I believe there is a power sounder with a back-up battery which is activated if the battery is dis-connected as an anti-theft protection device. I assume this would have to be removed as the back-up batteries would dis-charge once disconnected.

Any info. appreciated.
Mike. :y
