Omega General Help / Re: Exhaust advice for 2.5 V6 estate
« on: 21 July 2015, 01:49:40 »
Had an ETS on the old 2.5 Elite Estate, and have just fitted a Premium system to the 2.6 Estate.  Both systems delivered quickly, and both of good quality.  Not much to choose between them - buy on price HTH

General Car Chat / Re: Omega replacements
« on: 21 July 2015, 01:43:30 »
I must say, I am unconvinced about the longterm reliability of the Jags :-\

Given someones silence over his parents XF estate, I suspect that all is not as rosy as it looks with the Jag... ::)

If you want a proper estate, then the E Class must be at the top of a very short list... ;)

Speaking from personal experience?  How many have you owned?  I'm on my 4th and have to say reliability has not been an issue.

I have also had 5 Omegas, 1 from new, and have been let down by all of them.  From crank sensor failure (on 3), and alternator failure (on 2) - not a good advert for Omega reliability!

General Car Chat / Re: Tesla introduce "ludicrous mode"
« on: 21 July 2015, 01:38:03 »
The Tesla S 4 door looks bloody nice for an all electric car and brisk performance. 60/40 split rear seat? a concept from the omega I think ::)

Had that on Carltons ;)

General Car Chat / Re: So what have you done to your car today?
« on: 20 July 2015, 00:57:03 »
It's the rear passenger side tyre, It had around 5mm left.  :-\

Might have guessed by the tread pattern it's the Goodyear F1 Asym2, What i'll probably do is just replace this with one new one for now see how it goes, Hopefully it behaves as I really didn't budget for new tyres for another year or so!

At least the tyre let go completely over night at home and not on some busy road.

Once replaced, Match thread wear on the rear or it may pull under power and off throttle.

Take note of that advice Jay - if you think it makes sense  :-\

Nice car mate - personally I like the light leather interior.  Enjoy.

Omega General Help / Re: Oil Filter Comparison Study
« on: 17 July 2015, 17:22:03 »
Why does Dbug only post when he's having a go someone? Negative in itself it seems to me.

I just wanted to know why the detailed concern with oil filters. You have to admit it's does "seem" obsessive. But then some say I'm obsessed with tyres and suspension. And the reason for that is the agro I've had with my own omegas. As I'm sure you'll remember.

I just wondered about the reasons behind the post. :-\ what are we missing out on? With an answer it may not seem obsessive at all perhaps. ....?

Just trying to stand up for someone who's posted up some info he feels is useful, yet all he's getting from the usual "crew" on here is grief.  Surely if a post doesn't interest you, or if you feel it is irrelevent, don't post or knock it, just move on ::)

Omega General Help / Re: Oil Filter Comparison Study
« on: 17 July 2015, 02:38:25 »
For instance, have you had bad experiences with oil filters in the past? Maybe?

don't know why its personal to me i am just interested in getting a good filter.  what sort of bad experiences can you have with an oil filter? you fit it, you remove it.

oftentimes it leaks down your arm when you remove it so i suppose that is a bad experience.  i wouldn't mind one that didn't, if there is one.

apart from that i doubt you'd ever know if it was a good one or bad one, bit like oil.  i guess most people go by the label.  hence its worth reading an independent report once in a while.
Whilst I agree with the sentiment of your last paragraph, I still question the validity of a test carried out four years ago on a filter that is fitted to an engine that isn't fitted to the Omega... Which also brings the relevance of said test into doubt :-\

Perhaps if the test was to be repeated using the currently available filters for the Omega, it might be noteworthy ;)

Not meaning to be negative, but if I turned round and said that in 2011, I discovered that adding a teaspoon of rainex to every tank of screewash made the screen on my Vectra C sparkle, you would be like "So?"

FFS what negativity.  The op posted something he felt may be useful, and people have just sniped at him.  This happens all the time of late on here, no wonder people are loathe to post or are leaving OOF  Does a test on a nut and bolt have to be valid only if its fitted to an Omega?

Same with your Rainex example, why not be just a little positive and say that if it worked ok on my Vectra C in 2011, it may be worth testing on my Omega or whatever car I drive - or was the Rainex you tested Vectra specific? ffs!!

If you can't find the infamous drop link post don't worry, I'm not - in your own and Harris' words "Accept it. Deal with it, and move on" - seems to be the current well used "in phrase", and lots of members/ex members have certainly moved on.  Please feel free to have the last word - you always do - shan't bother to post on here again - just wanted to put record straight.

people get pissed off....but it does seem to be a select few individuals that are always involved when someone leaves.....and no I wont name names but we all know who these individuals are, and I for one want to know why the admin of this forum have this continue....and here is a wake up call admin you are running out of members on this forum and the members are what keep this forum ticking over...no members = no forum >:(
Probably because those individuals have contributed alot of help to the overall membership, rather than worrying about pussy footing around those of an obtuse nature. I suspect, btw, that your silent list includes myself and Chris and very few others... ::)

Worth noting that almost all of these teddy chucking sessions have happened on threads of a general nature where people will often have a difference of opinion over a wide variety of things. Deal with it and move on ;)

Overall this forum is a fantastic resource and there are some very genuine people here, many of whom are genuine friends.

So you have contributed so that gives you cart blanch to bully who you like???...wrong....you and many others on here are keyboard warriors and perhaps instead of inflaming a situation (which you are very good at I will add) walking away may be an idea instead of waving you appendage around like a child...I would really like to hear an admins view point on your post as it sounds as though admin condones this behaviour...but as for silent list....if the cap fits????????????????????????????

What utter cobblers. Your asking experienced members to lay down and allow long standing experience from oof to be ignored. Experience gained from more experienced members than those around today. (Or at least a best interpretation of it) it's like Falken tyres. Inherently unstable in certain circumstances. Proven by several members here.
Say you post up their great. You think I'm going to stay quiet, in case you accuse me of bullying? Grow up! ....anyway, you get the idea.

If your not happy, feel free to post a more helpful or more experienced view. But I do remember some posts on discussions about anatomy, and nerve and muscular or spine issues that my experience suggested your posts where not accurate. I may be wrong but my memory suggests you felt offended or made to look stupid somehow, by my posts. You've had the arse about it ever since and have been looking to stick the knife in ever since. Bit of a Dbug type of thing when I dared to suggests not all knocks are drop link related. Ooooh the audacity ::) ;D

Now if I'm wrong, please accept my complete and unreserved apologies on the entire post. But that IS my recolection, rightly or wrongly. Correct or not? Point being, you took offence at another opinion different to yours and held a grudge ever since.

Rightly or wrongly I fully agree with "the alarming man"'s sentiments - thats why I and many others rarely come on here any more.
With regards to your incessant comments regarding a long forgotton perceived drop link incident - please remind me when this took place as I certainly can't remember the posts in question, yet you can and you keep bringing it up.  I was repairing cars whilst you were still in nappies, and obviously there are many parts of a modern suspension system that can knock under certain running conditions, including drop links.  As for your supposed tyre knowledge, its pretty poor - ask TB about my background in tyre formulation, design and testing the proper way ;)

It seems you are the one that holds a grudge - your recent post that you have noted Tunnie dared to disagree with you sums your mentality up!!

It seems that you and your clone Harris are are just driving long standing and knowledgeable members away, and that's a shame.

Omega General Help / Re: Tracking set up at local ATS

Nice to see that no-ones getting the aggro I got for using a local guy for full geo, and to the OOF (WIMs) figures.   :o

...but what's Huntingdon got to do with it? ;D
Engage brain (or in your case the brain cell ;D ;D) before opening gob.  You have a pop at biggriffin and comment re water in Northants - yet if you looked BG lives in Huntingdon - hence my post

449
When I picked up my current mota, which is FWD, it has those Autogrip 'things' wrapping the rear wheels, and in slightly damp conditions, the rear of the car wanted to overtake the front.  :(
They were utter 'pish' as we say up here!  :-[
Ditch the Autogrips, before they ditch you!  :y
Got them on my estate, they grip fine in all weathers, try driving to the conditions, and not like Russel mikola,McRae,
There really is something in the water up in Northants isn't there! ;D

Thing is that's the trouble with the Autoshits. They are so appalling that no conditions exist that suit them. Other than burning in a skip of course. Does Bg drive in a burning skip I wonder ? ;D

Ordinarily most cheap tyres work to a certain level in the dry, then get caught out when it rains as there is shuch a vast difference in wet and dry performance people don't expect the grip to tail off so badly when it rains.
But with the Autoshits they don't work in the dry either. Unless tip toeing round everything that smells like a corner of course, and on the brakes....and on acceleration actually.

In fact what conditions would these be Bg?

Absolutely THE worst tire on the market.

Since when did Huntingdon move to Northants  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
