Cars for Sale & wanted / Wanted: Omega Elite or MV6 estate
« on: 18 October 2014, 11:09:43 »
I will be selling the Zafira soon  :D and will be looking for a cheapish runabout. There is none better at that than the Omega. After an estate this time, prefer late Elite 3.2 would would also consider MV6.

What you got?   Zirk..?

Possibly STEMO.

Can anyone confirm if the spark plugs and oil filter I have is the right type for this car? Part numbers are mentioned in my previous post. Do the spark plugs come with the right gaps?

Al, Mark I'm looking at you  ;D

It's a 1.8/2008 (08)

Cover didn't exactly slide out. Although there is an arrow indicator, it popped out  ???

Thanks for your reply. Are you saying I need to take the rocker cover off to clean the breathers for regular maintenance? Where are the throttle bodies btw? Wiukd these benefit from a clean?

I removed the coil pack to check for signs of oil. Clean as a whistle although there was some oil under the slide off cover but this could have happened during the oil change. Anynidea how tight should the coil pack should bolts be?

With the coolant, draining the rad wont drain the everything. So how do you get rid of all the old coolant apart from taking the waterpump/stat out?

Brake fluid. I've heard horror stories about garages drawing out the old fluid and topping up with new to make it look like they changed it. Otherwise I'd gladly pay the £35

The part number for the filter I have is 9192426. Its the paper element type and the spark plugs are 9195109.

Cheers Al.

As above. I bought a Haynes manual to help me out as the Zafira forum is hopeless. I have a set of spark plugs and an paper element oil filter from the Omega. Can I use them on the Zafira?

There isn't a coolant drain off on the block so I guess changing the coolant would be similar to the Omega?

Brake fluid change. Anyone familiar with these cars will know the underslung spare wheel was often stolen so the geniuses at VX stopped supplying them on later cars and instead provided an inflation kit. I somehow use this kit with an Easybleed?

Is there a 'breather' setup on these that need cleaning?

Thanks

Always makes me smile when my son's mate drops by in his Lexus 600hL. He arrives in stealth mode on battery power but when he leaves he opens it up and a ruddy great 5 Litre V8 fires up.  ::)

Your son's friend drives a £100k car?   :o Not jealous at all.  >:(  Is he a footballer?

I'm a big fan of hybrid cars. I would love to own a Lexus GS450H one day

These can be picked up quite inexpensively. :y

The new ones are obviously still very expensive but the previous model would make a good Omega replacement. Although they do look a bit dated now

Does anyone know if codes can be read via pedal trick with this engine? I tried it but the spanner light didnt come on or flash but ECU (or something similar) was displayed on the trip computer and the numbers reset to 000

1.8 Petrol
2008 / 08 Elite with 58k on the clock.

Even though it has the Elite badge on it, there's a lot missing compared to the Omega. I really missed the Omega  :'(

Car now sold.  :'(

The new owners intend to keep this car long term and use it mainly for shows so the car will have a good long life hopefully.  :y

A few years ago I listed an accident damaged Honda Civic VTi (Rover 400 type) on ebay and I received a dozen offers to end the auction early, mainly from Poland.

I eventually sold it to a Polish chap for £550 who based in Ipswich but was on his way to Poland where he was going to repair it on the cheap and sell it for £3.5k

Why tell the dealer you've travelled?  ???

Just turn up and if he comments that you're not local, make out you're visiting relatives or something and thought you'd have a look around while there.  :y

The only time the dealer needs to know where you are from is when he's filling out the paperwork!  ;)

I don't want the car to be sold while I'm travelling and I think my cockney accent might give it away a bit.  :)
