Hi Sir Jay am 20 miles from Plymouth in town called Kingsbridge....

Dont suppose you any good at breathers and rocker cover gaskets?? Mine need doing and am in process of looking for local garage to do the work, but am worried about getting it done right.

(Yes I should have a go myself, but lack of time and relevant tools, stops me... :()

I know the area well  :y

Breathers and rocker covers i have done in the past, at the same time i do an oil and filter change as the crud from the breathers gets in the oil

My biggest issue is i am only home on the weekends  :-[

i know of a garage in Saltash who are excellent, and do curtousy cars as well, he uses genuine parts on jobs like these as he knows that not doing so will mean the rockers will be leaking soon, he is the only person i trust to work on my car.

I can PM you his details if you want

I'm no expert .. I'm sure one will be along shortly to correct me - but I think the SAI (secondary air injection) is relatively unimportant, its a device to get cats up to temp quicker, and is removed from later engines.

I believe it only works for a short period every start-up, and other treads have mentioned removing the motor if it gets noisy. So I wouldn't rush to fix the pipe !!  :)

From a cosmetic viewpoint, and the fact I like things to work "properly", I would look for a replacement pipe from a scrappy, but not rush out urgently ..  :)

HTH

Thanks thats all I needed to know! At least I know I am able to get the car on the road and driving. :)

Where abouts in south devon are you?

If you are near Plymouth and would like someone to confirm i would happy to have a looky for you.

James,

I have a 70l in mine and it has made little difference to the ride height and that include having it full of LPG and petrol at the same time.

When you posted pics up in the Gallery i noticed that it was riding low on the back, even a big tool box shouldn't cause that much difference.

I would be inclined to look at the springs and shocks, what sort of condition are they in?

The OSR tyre sounds like it has worn normally, could it be a soft compound tyre, i was getting 10k out of tyres in the past in the back and 7k on the front

the NSR sounds a bit strange, is the wear on the outside or inside edge of the tyre, if it was inside i would say camber adjustment on the back

not as far as i am aware.......

what's the fault with the car?

as The boy said your item is a paperclip reader

that said i believe i may have misread your flashes, 10 flash then 5 flash could be 0115, if thats the case then it will be Intake Coolant Temperature Sensor, this is a temp sensor that sits in the air feed tube that comes out of the airfilter box....

what are is the fault/issue though with the car?

412
the system is trying to give you the code, the flashes correspond to the numbers...

so 10 pause 5 would be code 0105? have a look at this site and it will tell you what that code means

http://www.topbuzz.co.uk/info/fault_codes/fault_codes.htm

scroll down the page and have a look at the codes

0105 sounds like Intake manifold pressure sensor.

What age  and engine size is your car? i would hazard a guess it is a facelifed 2000 on car as this looks like a 'simtec' code (later type of injection system)

All cars should have it in all year round.

It also helps to preserve the oil cooler as well, that and regular coolant changes....

Running neat water will not be doing it much good and you have to ask how long it has been like that as well......

Omega General Help / Re: Is my Omega a B model ?

Yes it would be a Omega B, Omega A's were the Carltons, there was never an Omega C

Yep, all you need to know is that yours is an 'Omega B'....

Some body and trim items have changed around 1997/1998 (aka 'minifacelift', and then again in 2000 (aka facelift), but they all still regarded as 'Omega B'.

Some of the traders i have seen refer to the Facelifted cars, 99 on, as Omega C
They are wrong

yes, i agree, to date there has never been an Omega C

Omega General Help / Pale looking lambda
« on: 12 January 2008, 23:53:17 »
Took the lambda off the old cat that was being taken off the car today.

Normal Lambdas that i have seen in the past have looked very sooty and black, the one i took off the car was very pale looking and it made me wonder.

LPG runs cleaner than petrol, would the lambdas be a lot paler or is this because the car is running lean?

that will be the traffic master button. back in the day before sat nav vauxhall fitted Traffic Master to certain models.

What would happen is you hit the TM button and you would get real time traffic updates.

If you press the button and nothing happens then its not registered anymore and you would need to contact TM to sort it out. If it was me i wouldn't bother as its an annual subscription and what with the price of portable sat nav systems now theres not much point.

A good portable sat nav system like a Tom Tom will give you alot more info than Traffic Master, just as a point of note have you seen the Blue cameras by the side of major roads? they are TM cameras

Cheers
Andy

i would disagree.....

I use the Traffic Master system, and have done so since i got my Omega.
It costs about £30 a year and is an active system that looks at where you are and what direction you are heading in, the blue cameras on the motorway and roadside pick up traffic info so as to judge the speed of traffic etc.
Used WITH a good sat nav system i have been able to navigate round serious issues in the past, however i would say of you are not doing serious mileage or travelling on roads that are know to have issues then it might not be worth spending on
