Omega General Help / Steering Idler Arm (How Many ?)
« on: 07 June 2007, 12:46:35 »
Now this must sound Totally Daft
But After being to my local supplier to check on a Idler Arm He told me there was an Offside and NearSide Idler Arm, Is this True there are Two Steering Idler Arms on an Omega ? He did say it could be for left and right hand drive cars thats why two types showed up.

I am going to replace mine as my steering is alittle loose and I have vibration at 30mph and above.

If there are two do you only need to replace one of them if so which side ?

I have just had a look at mine and i only have 2 fans is this normal for a facelift ? one on the outside of the rad to the left as you look towards the car and one on the inside of the rad to the right.

I know the one on the right on the inside of the rad kicks in as soon as the air con is switched on but am i missing a fan on the right on the outside of the rad ?

What temp is it hitting ?

Mine is running alittle hotter in this weather between 90 - 92 in slow traffic and between 82 - 85 on motorways.

Also Check you cables attaching to the lambda sensor when i changed mine over all 4 wires had bare metal wire showing the plastic outer coating had been rubbed away, this would cause a short and show the sensor as not working. If its not that double check the connector i have heard some of the pins in the connector can get pushed back

Hello EveryOne

Was Checking My Brake Pads on Sunday and After i took the front wheels off i saw the the inside edge of the front tires has worn down which is strange as i had a standard  tracking done not that long ago by Toni at STS watford

Also checked the wishbones and one of the rubbers bushes looked alittle worse for wear.

Anyway next weekend i have decided to replace the wishbones, The track rods, front discs and pads, and then get a Full Geometry set up done by Toni at STS in watford and 4 new tires

Question I am wanting to know is I think my Rear Shocks are alittle bit weepy so i want to replace them also but can i do this after the Full Geometry set up and still be ok or should i change them before. I am just short on funds cant pay for everything at once.

Also the Steering Idle arm are there Two on the omega or just one, as i had a look yesterday and it looked like there were two.
I know you dont need to retrack after changing them or am i wrong ? Just think the steering is alittle lose.

Does anyone know how much a Full Geometry Set up is for the front and rear at STS Watford ?

Thanks
Craig

I replaced my Back Box at the weekend it was Soooooooooo Rusted but lucky for me my 2litre on has one centre section so i just took the whole thing off CAT back sheared off the clamp bolts in two seconds then beat the connect to the back box and centre section with a hammer to get all the rust off so i could see the join and then used a hammer and chisle took about 2 mins to part them and I am not joking when i say it was rusted tight.
