Omega General Help / sumps for V6's
« on: 17 April 2008, 20:13:47 »
We are in the process of fitting the RWD sump to a FWD engine, now i was under the impression that there were gaskets fitted to the mating faces.

VX claim that it is just black sealant, can anyone confirm if there are gaskets and what the Pt number should be.

Thanks

When i lock the CDX with the remote the drivers door will not lock, but yet the other 3 door will
If i try and lock the door with the key then all of them will lock.

Its your "you'll stand a good chance" that worries me a little ;D

what makes working on the Omega difficult at times is access, if you can change plug leads on a normal cars then this isn't dissimilar, just a bit more time consuming.

the Dispack is right at the back of the engine, access isn't brill, first time i did a dispack i took 2.5 hours and the swearing could be heard a street away  ;D

Oh dear oh dear I wont go there then. if I had confidence in my own abillities i'd do it myself.....

it's easy to say 'its not that difficult' when you have done one,  but if you follow a methodical approach then you stand a good chance of getting it right and saving the money   :y

i am sure there is a 'how to' on it in the guides somewhere

Edit here you go.....

just make sure you have a big box of plasters afterwards  ;D

Is £140+vat a fair enough price for labour to change the dis module on a V6. I'm suplying the part myself....

mine uses about half a litre between changes, but I have a misterious leak as well.

the 4 cylinder cars do seem to use more than the 6 cyl, I had a zafira with the 1.8 and then one with a 2.0, both used at least a litre every 750 miles and the dealer felt this was normal

if the knock sensor is out then it will like driving a car that is dragging a big weight.
My knock sensor was faulty, the car felt hugely underpowered, the only way to get the car to do anything is to floor it, and if thios was done at the wrong time it would really bang down a gear with an almighty shunt.

once mine was done it is business as usual, fuel economy has returned (as much as it can in an omega!!) and it is a sprightly as it was before

£16 for 4pot locking tool? Its £4.99 in my local motorfactors...

For a Sealey one?

is this an elite or an MV6?

I was under the impression that all facelift Elites had heater rear seats

Does anyone know if the CD/CDX had elec back seats?

if it is designed for the car then yes, the idea with most of irmscher stuff was that it would bolt on with no mods.

if its the split d back box that makes the car look like a wheelbarrow then NO! this will require you to mod the bumper

Omega General Help / Hunting like mad
« on: 21 February 2008, 12:01:14 »
For the last few weeks now i have noticed that the miggy hunts a lot, especially when cold, the revs can fluctuate between 1100 and 400 when cold and 500 to 700 when hot.

any ideas? so far i have checked
the seating on the ICV, it has been cleaned and oiled as well
air intake pipework, all in good condition and no leaks
all electrical connections are where they are supposed to be.

this issue is the same on petrol and LPG, which tells me it is induction related.

you have the 2.0XEV engine in your car, i was under ther impression that this would use the simtec 56.5 codes, so no you haven't been mugged
