EGR just maybe a bit clogged, take it off and clean it out with propper paint stripper. Fixed mine  :y

EGR probably needs cleaning, unsure on the knock sensor tho. HTH :y

Any good code reader should be able to clear them.

although my saloon isnt a facelift will this matter ?also saloon is a manual and estate is an auto :y

If i was to put car in garage to do cam followers is it an expensive job . or is there anyone going to anglia meet, that is capable of doing this in the short time over weekend at meet . if so what parts do i need to buy ::) ::)

It certainly won't harm, and will save popping the cams out if it works.  Wynns do a special lifter treatment that seems to work well most of the time as well.
Is this the stuff ?
