its also a good time do do the cam cover gaskets if you think they need doing :y

Agreed  :y

And the thermostat!  :y

A word of advice. Don't scrimp and try reusing any of the bolts or washers. I found this out the hard way and had to re do them. 2 new cooler bolts and 4 washers and 2 new coolant bridge bolts and 4 washers is definitely a must IMO.  :y

I would say definitely oil cooler. Just had the same problem with mine.

Get a new oil cooler kit (around the £125 mark IIRC) and there is an excellent how to guide on here! :y

Whatever you do DON'T EVEN START THE CAR UNTIL IT IS SORTED!!!! :y

You have all lost me now. What is all this about resistors? Do I need to change the solenoid?  :'(
I was thinking that your SAI solenoid was faulty and as you have removed the rest of the system it would be easier to fool the ECU into thinking it was still there with a resistor rather than replace the solenoid just to remove the fault code and extinguish the EML.

So is this not the case then? Sorry but I am a bit of a dunce with this stuff?  :-/

Appreciate that TB and have taken on board all the prior info given regarding this.

I have done everything that Daz (Loo Knee) has described above apart from removing the pipe on the solenoid. I have simply blocked this up.

The solenoid is still there and is plugged in. Are you saying that I should replace the solenoid?  :(

Omega General Help / Removed SAI pipes and still got fault code
« on: 07 July 2009, 14:15:53 »
I have removed all the SAI pipework and have blocked off the two pipes that go in to the exhaust manifold. I have also blocked up the pipe that comes out of the solenoid valve (assume this is correct).

I have unplugged the SAI pump under front wing. However I still have fault code 46. Also, the car now seems to hesitate if I try to put my foot down.

Any ideas please?

Pretty sure I have the vacuum pipes connected correctly as I followed the diagram last time I took the plenum etc. off. I will check again.

Where is the vacuum solenoid valve and switch located?

Omega General Help / Multi Rams not working
« on: 07 July 2009, 14:38:39 »
It seems that the multi rams on my car are aslo not working. With car running short hard blip of throttle and no movement on either.

Any way to fix this or is it replacement required?

Omega General Help / Rev counter flickering
« on: 06 July 2009, 15:01:44 »
Just started the car and my rev counter isn't working but is flickering.

Any ideas as to what this can be? :-/

Sorry to be a dunce but what can I check on it? I have already had the wiring off it and checked for continuity. Not sure what else I can check.

A lot of people have said just disconnect everything as it is not required, but will this get rid of the fault code?

Omega General Help / Cheapo Tech 2 works advice now needed!!!!
« on: 02 July 2009, 14:17:02 »
I got my cheapo tech 2 working today and cleared the fault codes off the car.

One of them came straight back so I assume this means that the fault is still there. It is SAI related so I want to just disconnect it. I disconnected the pump under the passenger wing but the fault code is stil showing.

Can someone please tell me exactly what I need to disconnect to stop the fault code showing?  :y
