WITH A DRIVESHAFT REMOVED, look into the output hole where the driveshaft pops in, if there is one cross-shaft keeping the planet wheels apart, then its an open diff. If there's a pair of crossed shafts visible, then its LSD.

it must be very nearly new

would you really buy a car off someone with so little sense as to run 19" wheels ? what else are they going to have done to it ?

217
let me see if I've got something to replace it with, but tenner ?

218
when first starting, put the key in and turn to red lights. Then wait a few seconds till you start it. That did the trick for me

Oh god now I'm gonna have to go down to the back of the workshop and measure my old block I'm positive both 3.0lt and 4.0 lt 24 valves were 98. 3.6 Irmscher 12 valve was 96. Do you know how dangerous my workshop is? There's all sorts of strange and wonderful life forms down there

Where you getting your info from?

I have some old Opel information.

it seems they did play "musical bore sizes", especially if you include 12v and the likes of Mantzel, etc.

But as the question referred only to the Irmscher 4.0, I'm confident that the answer is 98mm ( in addition to the long-throw crank )

remember also to remove your left leg - you won't be needing it

Omega General Help / Re: Power steering "lumpy" - HELP

most likely to be air in the system or a steering box internal fault.

not likely to be the pump. Demand your money back from the garage, they are a bunch of unskilled numpties
